Mastery Journal Entry

The area that I’m researching is in the visual arts on how aesthetics in game design and art the research goes into the psychology with how to set up your art assets to meet certain criteria. Like if you want to create a world like The Lord of the Rings you can have it set-up where the location you start is a harmony set-up then progressively goes to a dissonance the closer you get to Mordor. This research will help more in trying to make more effective compositions and to tell a more effective story with-in a game or animation. The importance of this research is mainly learning how to learn better strategies when building your world for your game or film. It helps further reinforce integration of someone’s flow state so that the watcher or player can get a better experience.
The research done in month four was to learn how to incorporate a character into an environment and find out how to incorporate it into a game’s mechanics.

Sculpted Robot

this sculpt is what I did during my last month at full sail university for game art.
Currently i'm still learning on how to get cleaner bakes for my normals and worlds normal maps so i can then texture the in-game res in either quixel or 3dcoat.

Characters in Teams (assignment)

Chris Hemsworth
     -Strengths
-He is adaptable in social setups.
-He has mental strength and insight.
-He is good at business and politics.

-Have Chris Hemsworth work the rein of the social media side to see if we can get a bigger turn up for the tournament. I will give him access to where i established my social media to see what he can improve upon.

-DiSC Personality (Top is the Highest - bottom is the lowest)
           -Steadiness
he seems to be relaxed and a good listener.
           -Dominance
Sometimes is temped to control the situation more than usual. Also probably lacks faith in the abilities of others.
           -Influence
Pretty much open when talking to him from what I see in his interviews.
           -Conscientious
i feel that he is analytical in his approach to whatever he is doing at times. He also seems to be more straight-forward rather than beating around the bush.

Over-all he seems to be pretty balanced with no-other trait overlapping the other to a certain degree.

Interview 1
Interview 2

Arnold Schwarzenegger
     -Strengths
-Strong ideas about right and wrong.
-Practical and down to earth who can think through any situations and problems.
           -Really good at saving money

-Arnold Schwarzenegger position in my team would help me with my budget and strategies on ways to save money. (not sure what is official name is.) I will give him my budget and the list of what the items price are currently.

-DiSC Personality (Top is the Highest - bottom is the lowest)
           -Conscientious
He is not just accurate in what he does, but he also sets a good standard for the quality of work.
           -Influence
He has a great ability to motivate others in doing better and pushing their limits.
           -Dominance
He definitely isn't afraid to try something new whether it's in film or when he was in body building. When you see him talk he does use hand gestures but most of the time it's non-aggressive he mostly does it to help further explain what he is talking about.
           -Steadiness
When watching Arnold in the interview and in the video he seems to be a good listener.

Arnold's dominance and steadiness seem to be relatively close but slightly lower the his influence and conscientiousness.

Interview (Audio might be loud)
Video

Mariah Carey
     -Strengths
-She is good at making effective plans, setting goals and working out the best way to achieve them.
           -She is extremely perceptive
-She is extremely diplomatic and tactful.

-Mariah Carey in my team would be my planner so we can have a higher chance of success. Also have her sing for the after party when the event is over. I would give Mariah Carey the base skeleton of what i have currently to get a better idea on what to improve.

-DiSC Personality (Top is the Highest - bottom is the lowest)
           -Influence
Mariah Carey's influence probably is the highest compared to her other traits. Becasue she possesses an enormus sensitivity to her feelings and those of others. She also runs from confrontation to avoid an argument.
           -Steadiness
She has a relaxed personallity and she tends to be a really good listener.
           -Conscientious
the only thing that comes to mind is that she tends to put forth very high quality of work.
           -Dominance
I wanna say that she has a little bit of dominance due to the nature of her industry but it doesn't show at all.

Hulk Hogan
     -Strengths
           -Extra-ordinary drive and determination.
           -he is exceptionally creative.
-He has a strive for growth.

-Have Hulk Hogan as a surprise announcer for the tournament, and for any heavy lifting of the equipment. for the surprise announcer position I would just tell him on what the game is about so he knows what's going on. For the heavy lifting I will offer some equipment to make the lifting easier.

-DiSC Personality (Top is the Highest - bottom is the lowest)
           -Dominance
Hulk Hogan's dominance out-shines the other 3 traits. Because he constantly insists doing things his own way. He doesn't let anyone get in his way, and he constanly seeks the forefront and the limelight.
           -Steadiness
His steadiness is on the lower side due to him being restless, and constantly eager to do things.
           -Conscientious
Hulk hogan seems to be more self-willed than anything else.
           -Influence
Hulk hogan seems to be more on the critical side of thiking in influence.

Steve Harvey
     -Strengths
           -he is very organized
           -He is very hard working
-great at overcoming limitations and shortcomings.

-I would put Steve Harvey as my main Announcer/ live caster for the whole event. What I would do to help Steve Harvey in this position is teach him what the game is about so he has more in-depth knowledge on what is going on.

-DiSC Personality (Top is the Highest - bottom is the lowest)
           -Influence
for influence Steve Harvey is very optimistic with a warm personality. And as a side note he is a very entertaining person and can make people laugh due his personality.
           -Dominance
With Steve Harvey for his Dominance side he seems to be very strong willed, and ambitious. Due to the pace that he works a lot of people seem to not be able to keep up with him. He also works at being careful when working with others, so he doesn't seem bossy or rude.
           -Conscientious
With Steve Harvey works at getting the most quality he can get while working.
           -Steadiness
Steve Harvey seems to be the type that is more stable and consistent but this is more off an assumption.

Conflict Resolution policy FS

Disclaimer: For any major conflicts like Harassment, Threats, or theft please report to your manager. But for all minor conflicts please follow the steps below.

1: First thing to do is identify your mediator whether you pick one based on voting or by volunteering in case of any future conflicts.

2: Use humor to help say things that might otherwise be difficult to express. by doing this you can occasionally avoid conflicts and resolve arguments and disagreements.

3: One thing to do is to just "walk away" have the team go on break maybe go out to lunch get some fresh air, get your energy out like a quick jog if you have the time for it, to think things through so you don't accidentally say something that you really didn't mean.

4: Identify the problem, what caused the problem in the first place. if it's with a team member only go to them

5: The best way's to go about it when confronting the person, is doing it very calm and collected. make eye contact to show you care as well as your facial expression, your tone of voice, and your posture. showing good body language can help improve not just your mood but theirs.

6: When talking to the person use "I feel" statements. the "I feel" will help you in explaining your emotions.

7: When talking to the person of the conflict also try to pay attention to their feelings being expressed when talking to them.

8: Try to get to a mutual understanding from where not just you but the other person can agree on to where both of you can feel motivated.

9: Get the team involved to see if they can help in change the flow maybe (if it's a creative process idea) have a group brainstorming to see what can both benefit you but the other person.

10: Be willing to forgive and forget, you can't resolve a conflict if you're not willingly able to forgive.

Industry research - Project and Team Management

Esports upcoming into sports
Recently esports have been on the rise recently due to the growth in popularity. one of the means of growth for esporst is through the streaming platforms like Twitch.tv, hitbox.tv, Ustream, Azubu, You-tube, and gaming live. Another way to tell is that esports alone in 2013 attracted 32 million viewers from league of legends which had double of the NBA's viewers and baseball world series. Esport teams are also getting sponsors like Coke, Intel, and Nissan. Even ESPN3 have covered what is going down like it does with the NFL or college football. As of the BBC guides the US government recognize's esports players as professional athletes, at-least where granting visa's is concerned.

Importance of Competition
Competition does have it's misconceptions of being bad but if you encounter competition earlier on in life being able to experience winning and losing will help face the reality of life later down the road. Some benefits like motivation to achieve a goal, perseverance to overcome challenges and that hard work and commitment leads to a greater chance of success. One of the important factors to competition is that it drives us to learn at a faster rate which helps in performance, and problem solving. Another reason is that it teaches us to take risks, the higher the risk the higher the reward is or the lower the risk is the lower the reward is. an example of this is a win/ lose situation in league of legends where in the IEM Katowice group B stage saved his team by being able to perform an insane backdoor when his team was on the verge of losing. here is the link to that play in hope to further explaining the risk took to win that match. Regulating Prizes for Tournaments
This is just to show in regulating prize money based on what type of tournament is being play either large scale or small. for small almost everyone becomes a winner in a sense basically no-one is particularly depressed based on what they got, but motivated to improve skill to better themselves. Small tournaments the way where prizes is distributed is best put in the USBA tutorial link. But for more serious competitions say like league of legends, and Dota 2 they do a top four team placements for prizes. The way this would work is that you grab whatever the total pot is say like $100,000 dollars for example. you would put it into this graph of a 100% then brake it down if you don't want to use the USBA tutorial you would do first gets 50% which is $50,000, second is 25% which is $25,000, third place is 15% that gets $15,000 and fourth get 10% that is $10,000.

Voice Actor Topic

Celebrities in Voice acting

     there are many speculations based on celebrities in voice acting. one is that the people tend to like the voices of certain celebrities for a animated character. Or is it that celebrities can down charge their voice in a animation. Or that companies are scared of hiring medium or hi-potential voice actors that are not known won't attract people to watch their movie because the person isn't famous. One thing That i know is true is stated from The Conversation article is this;
"stars offer nothing more than a celebrity endorsement and that they are hired for their commercial value rather than their suitability or “fit” with the role."
Which is bad because it is clouding past voice actors achievements that they worked really hard for. Something else it could be is that voice acting is just a very hard field for new people to get in due to whats been made in the past. I'll say this one of my favorite voice actors in the world is Mel Blanc or otherwise known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices" just due to how different each of his voices are with their own characteristics. Like for example the one voice we all heard at some point in our life time Bugs Bunny or Barney from the Flintstones. Something that I learned recently is that he was the voice for Private Snafu in the training film for WWII soldiers. Or is the discipline for voice acting just dying out due to celebrities.
